Jesus is the final answer!

Art Peterson - Thursday, March 31, 2011
It is reported that Gertrude Stein asked on her deathbed, “What is the answer?” Then, after a long silence asked, “What is the question?” When one reads the Bible a number of very important questions become known. Such as, “What is man profited if he gain the whole world but loses his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26) “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) “What is truth?” (John 18:38) “What does a man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?” (Ecclesiastes 1:3)“Who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29) “What shall I do with him you call the King of the Jews?” (Mark 15:12) “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 10:25) We would do well to ponder and respond to the questions that the Bible raises. There is coming a day when all questions will have been asked and all the answers will have been given. Don’t be caught with unanswered questions. Jesus is the final answer!

Will Sunday find you in church, and why?

Art Peterson - Friday, March 25, 2011
Well, once again, it’s Friday... which means Sunday’s coming! Hopefully Sunday will find you in church... gathered with other believers. The sad truth is that many Christians have never stopped to think about why they attend church. They just go! It’s something they’ve always done... in fact, it just doesn’t seem like Sunday unless they go to church. Let’s consider a couple of reason for church attendance. First, Jesus said, “where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.” (Matt. 18:20) So, one primary reason we gather with others in church is so that we may claim the promise of the presence of Jesus. Another reason is that gathering with other believers to worship honors God. He enjoys His Family when they come together in His Name. Another reason is that we are exhorted to “meet together” according to Hebrews 10:25. There are many more reasons but those are sufficient enough to motivate us to attend church this Sunday and every Sunday!

Take It One Day at a Time

Art Peterson - Thursday, February 24, 2011
Both Jesus and Paul tell us about the problem of anxiety. Jesus preached that we are not to "worry about tomorrow." (Matt. 6). Paul wrote, "Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. (Phil. 4:6). Robert Burdette wrote, "There are two days in the week upon which and about which I never worry...One of those days is Yesterday, with its cares and frets and pains and aches, all its faults, its mistakes and blunders, has passed forever beyond my recall. It was mine; it is God’s. The other day...is Tomorrow...with all its possible adversities, its burdens, its perils, its large promise and performance, its failures and mistakes, is as far beyond mastery as its dead sister, Yesterday. Tomorrow is God’s day; it will be mine. There is left, then for myself but one day in the week—Today." So we take it ONE DAY AT A TIME! "It isn’t the experience of Today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of what happened Yesterday and fear of what Tomorrow might bring. These are God’s Days...Leave them to God."
