Manna in the Morning

A daily devotional from Art Peterson, Minister of First Christian Church of Lake Butler, FL

Be a “fool” for Christ.

Art Peterson - Friday, April 01, 2011
Well, as you probably know today is called April Fools' Day. Before the day is over you may be the victim of someone’s April Fools' trick. The Bible has several things to say about fools. Several times in the Old Testament God declares that it is the fool who “says there is no god.” Those who were idol worshipers were called fools by the prophets of God because their objects of worship had eyes but could not see... they had hands but could not work... they had ears but could not hear. Most ridiculous was the fact that the idol was crafted by the idol worshiper! The Book of Proverbs is replete with the contrast between the wise and the foolish. The wise are those who fear God and seek His will. The foolish are those who ignore God’s claim on their lives and seek to do their own will. There is also a passage in Paul’s writings where he said he would gladly be a “fool” for Christ. The world may not understand our commitment to Christ and they may call us foolish... but in reality the world is foolish and one day that foolishness will be sadly apparent to all. So, don’t be tricked today... rather be true to the God who loves you!
