I like the classic “Peanuts” cartoon that shows Linus and Charlie Brown sitting and talking about their plans for the future. Linus says, “When I get big I’m going to be a humble little country doctor. I’ll live in the city, and every morning I’ll get up, climb into my sports car and zoom into the country! Then I’ll start healing people. I’ll heal everybody for miles around!” In the last panel he concludes his little speech exclaiming, “I’ll be a world famous, humble little country doctor!” Obviously, Linus has a lot of growing up to do. Part of that growing up will be to really understand humility and service. We should remember what the Scripture says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) When we truly understand how awesome and great God is then we begin to realize our place before Him...in humility to submit to Him and His will. Humility is not easy for us but it is most essential in our relationship with God!
