Manna in the Morning

A daily devotional from Art Peterson, Minister of First Christian Church of Lake Butler, FL

Happy Mother's Day!

Art Peterson - Friday, May 06, 2011
Well, here it is Friday again... Sunday’s coming! And this Sunday is a very special day that rolls around once a year. Mother’s Day gives us an opportunity to give some honor to a group of people that are truly deserving of having a day in their honor. Phil Whisenhunt wrote: “The most important occupation on the earth for a woman is to be a real mother to her children. It does not have much glory in it; there is a lot of grit and grime. But there is no greater place of ministry, position, or power than that of a mother.” And then there is this bit of poetry from the pen of William Wallace:
They say that man is mighty,
He governs land and sea,
He wields a mighty scepter
O’er lesser powers than he.
But a mighty power and stronger
Man from his throne has hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
is the hand that rules the world.
One of the greatest honors that you can give to your mother, whether she is alive or dead is to have your family together in the Lord’s House on the Lord’s Day.
