Well, as you probably know today is called April Fools' Day. Before the day is over you may be the victim of someone’s April Fools' trick. The Bible has several things to say about fools. Several times in the Old Testament God declares that it is the fool who “says there is no god.” Those who were idol worshipers were called fools by the prophets of God because their objects of worship had eyes but could not see... they had hands but could not work... they had ears but could not hear. Most ridiculous was the fact that the idol was crafted by the idol worshiper! The Book of Proverbs is replete with the contrast between the wise and the foolish. The wise are those who fear God and seek His will. The foolish are those who ignore God’s claim on their lives and seek to do their own will. There is also a passage in Paul’s writings where he said he would gladly be a “fool” for Christ. The world may not understand our commitment to Christ and they may call us foolish... but in reality the world is foolish and one day that foolishness will be sadly apparent to all. So, don’t be tricked today... rather be true to the God who loves you!

What is your Wisdom Quotient?
Art Peterson - Wednesday, December 29, 2010
I heard some folks discussing what the IQ might be of a certain individual that was obviously very smart. One’s IQ is probably very important in some aspects of life. But I think there is more to life than one’s Intelligent Quotient. There is also the matter of one’s WQ or Wisdom Quotient. Wisdom has been defined as the right and proper use of knowledge. The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding.” There is nothing in that verse about IQ but there is much in that verse about what is important in the living of our lives. Here we are reminded that when we follow the word and the will of God that we have a good grasp of understanding and wisdom to live life to the fullest. We may not be able to do much about our IQ but we can do a lot about our WQ...our wisdom quotient. The Bible says that if anyone lacks wisdom...let him ask God and God will grant him wisdom. It’s fine to be intelligent but it takes wisdom to live responsibly in this world.
